What a GST tax invoice for a salon needs
A tax invoice for services typically carries the supplier and customer details, an invoice number and date, a description of each service with its SAC code, the taxable value, the GST rate, and the tax split into CGST and SGST for a sale within the same state. Many beauty and wellness services attract 18% GST, but rates and thresholds can change, so confirm the right treatment with your chartered accountant.
Invoice numbers
GST rules limit an invoice number to 16 characters and expect a unique, consecutive series per financial year. Salon OS uses a branch-and-year series in the shape BR01/2627/000123, which is exactly 16 characters.
Split payments, deposits and refunds
- Split payments: one bill paid part by UPI, part by cash or card.
- Deposits: an advance taken to hold a booking is treated as taxable on receipt in Salon OS, with a receipt voucher, and is applied once against the final invoice.
- Refunds: before an invoice exists you issue a refund voucher; after it exists you issue a credit note. Only owner, manager or accountant roles can approve them.
Money without rounding surprises
Salon OS stores every amount as whole paise and calculates tax per line with a fixed rounding rule, so the totals on the invoice, the receipts and the GST summary always agree.
Finance views for the owner and the accountant
The finance area is designed to include an invoice list, receivables ageing, a GST summary by rate, a daily cash close with a balanced, short or over result, and a settlement reconciliation list.
