In short: WhatsApp is where Indian salon customers already are, but marketing messages must go only to people who agreed, use approved templates outside the 24-hour customer window, and let people opt out easily. Salon OS is being built so that WhatsApp reminders and campaigns follow those rules by default.
Why WhatsApp works for salons
Customers reply to WhatsApp. A reminder the evening before an appointment reduces no-shows, a rebooking message to someone overdue brings visits back, and a birthday note keeps regulars loyal.
The rules that matter
- Consent first. Message only customers who agreed to WhatsApp marketing.
- Opt-out. Anyone can send STOP and must not be messaged again.
- Templates. Outside the 24-hour window after a customer's last message, a business must use a pre-approved template.
- Quiet hours. No marketing late at night or early morning.
- No spamming. A duplicate guard stops the same customer receiving the same campaign twice in a short time.
How Salon OS handles it
Before you send, the audience screen shows how many customers are in the audience, how many will receive the message because consent is granted, and how many are excluded and why. Salon OS respects STOP replies, holds messages during quiet hours (9 pm to 9 am) instead of sending them, and shows the message cost at your rate before you confirm.

Reminders and campaigns are different
Appointment reminders and confirmations are service messages tied to a booking. Campaigns such as offers and win-back messages are marketing and need marketing consent. Salon OS keeps the two apart.
